My second unit of archers.
This time they are almost all from Front Rank. Totally fictitious again with another made up flag too. Some of these chaps were painted about twelve or thirteen years ago, the rest have been painted in the last few days.
The bases are 50mm X 50mm again too.
I wonder where we would be if not for such a great man.
Donald F. Featherstone (20 March 1918 – 3 September 2013)
Very nice Rodger, how come you've gone with a made up unit and flag?
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray. The main reason for going totally fictitious is that we all have figures from about 1300 to mid to late 1400's. My mounted Knights are early 1300's, my archers are WotR. Wayne's figures are ,I think, all early 1300's and Dave's are mostly WotR. So this way we can kind of cover the Medieval period without having to buy heaps more fig's.It's really about making use of what we already have.
DeleteFor the flags I have gone this way partly because of the above and therefore not trying to put them into a particular time period. I was inspired by another blogger ( you may well him)who designs his own flags so I thought I would have a go myself!
DeleteWell nice indeed Rodger
ReplyDeleteVery nice.

Interesting project...always been scared of painting high medievals myself with all that heraldic stuff going on. Love the archers.

ReplyDeleteIt's great to see all the tributes to Don Featherstone. As you say, one of the true pioneers of the 'modern' hobby.
