Evergreen Aviation and Space museum

A little way south of Portland , Oregon is the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum which displays a number of military and civilian aircraft and spacecraft, most notably, the Hughes H-4 Hercules "Spruce Goose".
I couldn't pass up the opportunity to drop in and have a look and take a few photos.

The Spruce Goose is one very large plane!

On a small rise just outside the buildings was a small collection of military vehicles. I had to go over and take a closer look.

This has been just a few the many photos that I took but I hope it gives you an idea of what is on display here.

Well worth a visit should you ever get the chance.

  3. Very nice images of an impressive collection, Rodger. The main hall looks like the Boeing Museum of Flight. You may have told me before, but are you in the Pacific NW too?

    1. I live in New Zealand but I took these photos on a rather recent trip to the USA. My brother in law and his family live between Seattle and Canada. We spent a couple of weeks there and then went over to the other side of the States and visited some battle fields. Lots more photos to come!

    2. Lol! NZ, right! Sorry 'bout the mix up :) You sounded like you know the place pretty well. Maybe you can time your next visit with Enfilade! in May (Memorial Day weekend).

  4. A great set of pics Rodger! I'd really like to see those single props from WWII in person one day. There's a big Air Force museum near where I live and I'd go, but The Hubby could never last long enough to make it through something like that.

  5. Looks like an amazing place to visit. The Spruce Goose is massive! I've seen it from the air before, but seeing it on the ground like that you really appreciate how ridiculous is is!
