When I made the castle for our Lion Rampant games back at the start of the year I wanted to have some ducks swimming along in the moat. I didn't get around to doing that. However, then I won another blog giveaway, this time from Anne at O'Leary Miniatures.
Anne very kindly gave me $20 to spend at Warbases . A quick look on their website and I was ordering the ducks. To finish off the order I also ordered a wagon and some 25mm bases.
The ducks painted up and happily checking out the castle walls.
My thanks to Anne and to Warbases. |
28mm wagon that will be used in many games I think. |
Warbases is also well worth a visit. Great range of figures, kits and bases and excellent service.
***************
We had another crack at Lion Rampant last Friday night. Smallish forces attempting to take control of an area containing a number of small farms.
The main reason for this game was to introduce Phil to the rules.
On the whole the game went relatively evenly with both sides losing units until Prince Philip squared off against Geoffrey, Duke of Avonhead. Their units clashed and when the Prince ended up being the last man standing the Duke's army fled the field.
Prince Philip standing alone and victorious. |
Nice banner! And the ducks and cows are a great addition to the scenes.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you got somethings you really liked. The ducks look great on the water!
ReplyDeleteThanks again Anne. Probably would not have made it without your help!
DeleteGreat looking water fowl - the first shot had me thinking it was a real life shot - a visit to a castle :) Great looking LR game too. BTW, I was another lucky winner of Anne's prize give-away - picked up a Perry WotR character set from The WarStore.
ReplyDeleteCool looking game Rodger! The quackers are a nice touch too!
ReplyDeleteCool looking game Rodger.
ReplyDeleteLove the ducks Rodger and I can't agree more with regards to Warbases customer service.
ReplyDeleteThe ducks are a lovely touch, and the wagon looks very nice too. Another superb looking game as well, Lion Rampant seems like it will be around for some time :-)
ReplyDeleteVery nice ducks:) and really good looking game!
ReplyDeleteDucks are great. I always love those small extras like those.
ReplyDeleteThe game looks very good!
That terrain is stunning :)
ReplyDeleteLove the medieval game - great looking stuff.
& agree with the Warbases thumbs up...
Some very fine eye candy there, Rodger. How to you find the Pike and Shotte rule set? Looking at 'Lion Rampant' is that a Wars of the Roses set, or more generically Mediaeval? I'm taken with that laser cut stuff, too. Wheels. Can one get wheels only? One can never have enough wheels (nor draught horses) in one inventory. Cheers...
ReplyDeleteLion Rampant is a generic Medieval set of rules. Seems to give a reasonable game. Wheels are always handy, I agree.
DeleteVery cool, always good to see the little things added to our tables!
ReplyDeleteExcellent post Rodger. I am really glad Phil got a win under his belt.
ReplyDeleteGood skills.
Lovely terrain and great game photos :)
ReplyDeleteLove the ducks.......I must speak to Martin at Warbases.
ReplyDeleteLike the ducks and the game looks great as well!

Hi
ReplyDeleteNice work.
Ducks belong to the castle on the environment, they are also (such as geese) act as an excellent watchdog.
I like this taistelukenttä and still lifes, view is very tidy and spacious, as usual
Excellent work, Rodger. I can't think of many wargames tables which would not be enhanced by a set of ducks! I love adding little details like that myself. The game looks excellent as well!
ReplyDeleteThese ducks are a great addition to your table. Looks like a fun game too.
ReplyDeleteThe ducks set the scene and finish it all off. Impressive looking game Roger.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff! Love the new banner too.
