This is the 4th infantry regiment,
"Sachsen Hildburghausen" dated around about 1806. I prefer the
Bavarian uniforms from around this time with their different facing colours.
The 4th, in Sulpher yellow are particularly striking. I want to add a further two line units , the
11th, they had green facings piped red (1807-11) and either the 13th or
14th as they had black facings piped red. After 1814 they all had red facings
and I think that would get a little boring. Then I would like to add a light
infantry unit in their green coats with black facings also piped red. Just a
small Bavarian brigade that could fight as a French ally or against Napoleon.
Front Rank figures with GMB flags.
Great work and great blog....
ReplyDeletealways inspiring....
just 2 questions
are they 28mm yes?
did you paint the banners?
good work
franznap, Yes 28mm Front Rank fig's. No I didn't paint the flags, they come from GMB designs http://www.gmbdesigns.com/
ReplyDeleteLovely work Rodger! I've been toying with making a Bavarian or Wurttemberg corps using HaT 1/72nd, but have resisted the urge to add to the unpainted pile ;-)
ReplyDeleteRosbif I am so bad I have done the Bavarians in Hat fig's already. When I get a chance to take some photos I will post pic's of them. I would love to do the Wurttemburg troops too and I see Front Rank are going to do them very soon , so more cost for me!!
ReplyDeleteHi Rodger stunning figures. I'm working on Bavarians myself although in 15mm and for 1812 (should have went for earlier). Thanks for the inspiration to get mine on track again.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Paul
Great looking unit! I'd love to do some Bavarians myself someday.
ReplyDeleteAnother great unit, I like the colour combination on those bavarians
ReplyDeleteVery nice work again sir, like the earlier period.
ReplyDeleteThey look great !
ReplyDeleteI remember selling you some Bavarians on trademe a few years ago as at the time I didnt like units with helmets lol.
Top quality unit Rodger; becoming more and more interested in this period but the uniforms are such a minefield.
ReplyDeleteNice work Rodger. Always impressive to see Napoleonic regiments forming up under their colours!
ReplyDeleteLove Bavarians, I have painted a fair few 15mm ABs on commission and have a shed load in my stash that I hope to get to one day, yours are very nice, well done.
ReplyDeleteYes Paul these were the ones you had. You sold them to a work mate of mine who owed me.
