Several
years ago our group decided to do a bit of colonial gaming. With 5 of us involved we decided that if each
of us painted at least one British unit, and that some of us painted the odd
Gatling gun or artillery piece we should have enough to start gaming.
The British unit that
I settled on was the 13th. I didn’t want to do the 24th
foot as everyone paints them. The 13th
were part of the “Flying Column” commanded by Brigadier-General Sir Evelyn Wood.
This force also included the 80th and 90th regiments.
The figures are from
Black Tree Design. The drought horses are by Front Rank. I can’t remember where
the wagon came from.

Just had to add these guys in as well.
I picked them up at Eureka when I was there a few years ago. 28mm Bears. Just a bit of fun.

That's a pretty impressive unit you have there, beautifully presented and great photography. I'm also rather impressed at your tasty looking table. As for those bears! I've looked at these on the website but this is the first time I've seen them painted up and they look great! It's the sort of thing that helps to keep the good Mrs. Awdry on side; I may have to invest.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully painted minis !
ReplyDeleteBest regards Dalauppror
Lovely work! The very personification of Kipling's "Go to your God like a soldier..."
ReplyDeleteNot sure if Kipling ever wrote about teddy bears, though... ;-)
Great work, very nice indeed! Not too sure about the teddies though!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI really like the British, but the bear stuff doesn't work for me. Still, whatever works for you.;-)
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Lovely stuff. We got into colonial in a big way about 15 yrs ago, all in 15mm.
ReplyDeleteIf you think those teddies are good you see see Nic's WW1 "Bearoplanes'!
Very nice work on those redcoats etc... Not sure about the bears though! ;-)
ReplyDeleteRealy nice painted miniatures
ReplyDeleteNice work sir but the teddies are bearly allowable (see what I did there), I know back on the meds.
ReplyDeleteThe five of us here decided this two years ago as well. They are still unpainted in a drawer somewhere :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful unit and wagon!
I cant say I recall any Bears from my campaigning days but I do recall a viciuos skirmish with some Golliwogs By Jove!!
ReplyDeleteClearly Rog your idea of 'a few bears' and my idea of 'a few beers' are two different things.
You need to get out more.
I love the bears. I thought they were furry Zulus at first.:)
ReplyDeleteHi Rodger,
ReplyDeletePopped in to take a look and glad I did! Some excellent painting here, those French Lancers in the previous post are fantastic ..... oh and I like the Bears too :-)
Cheers,
Lee.
Very nice! Even the bears. :-) I've seen the SYW versions before. Fun stuff!
ReplyDeleteAnd now you can get Roman teddies too!
