I have set up another blog just for this Gettysburg battle. If things go according to plan there will be a mix of info about the real battle as well as info from those that plan on being at the refight in Christchurch in 2013.

ReplyDeleteSounds like fun. I remember Ion ran one in 1/72 - was great fun.
ReplyDeleteI think there are still spots left to play if you are interested Paul.
DeleteI would be interested but I know nothing about Fire and Fury - what size units\bases are needed ?
DeleteDon't worry about the rules. Several of those that are planning on coming don't know the rules either. I could loan you a copy if you want to take a look. As for basing we use stands of 3 - 5 figs at 50mm by 40mm and units vary in the number of stands.
DeleteOK - I'll do some basic research on unit sizes and look at some figures to contribute.
DeleteThe more the merrier AFAIK!
ReplyDeleteThe first picture is really impressive...waiting for more!
ReplyDeleteSounds really good - look forward to seeing how it shapes up!

Looking good, a great period and battle.
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the best in this venture - it should be a cracker!
ReplyDeleteThanks Scott. We can't talk you in to coming down? There are a few from Wellington that are making the trip.
DeleteGood luck with your painting and the blog, Rodger, sounds like a great project.
ReplyDeleteShould be a winner Rodger!
ReplyDeleteSounds great! Will follow your progress.
ReplyDeleteCheers Paul
Looks very cool, I'll also head over and check it out. My great-great grandfather was supposedly wounded at Gettysburg.
ReplyDeleteNo problem Rodger!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great project!
ReplyDeleteThe view from a recon balloon is awesome, Rodger! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI recall the game - 1st day at Gettysburg - back in the early '90s. I was supposed to be coordinating the whole thing, but we were short a commander for Howard's XI Army Corps. Guess who had to fill the bill? Thankless job. I didn't do much better than Howard did, and had one unit completely obliterated by rifle and gun fire - an extremely rare event under my rule set... Still, someone had to bite the bullet, and I'm glad everyone else enjoyed the game...
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Ion
Looks just great! Fire and Fury are very nice rules, but I've found Black powder to also be a very nice alternative set that plays faster and easier then Fire and Fury not to mention organization is also far easier as you control unit sizes.

That sound like a crazy but wonderful insane idea and it makes me wish I had the ACW figures to do such a thing. But saying that its one hell of a battle with one hell of load of troops, but someone tell Pickett to get a letter from his doctor that he is too sick to come play soldiers today.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it is going to be another epic game.
ReplyDeletecheers
This looks like it will be great - good luck with it.
ReplyDeleteWe did Gettysburg with Fires and Fury at the old Wargames Holiday Center in Scarborough a good few years ago.
Great project, Good luck!
