ECW Green coat Regiment.

Slowly getting back into some ECW gaming. This is a green regiment that I am adding to my Royalist army.
Painted a while ago but only finished off the basing over the weekend.

The figures are all Renegade and the flags are from GMB.

Thomas Stonewall Jackson

When the group decided to have an ACW battle a few weeks back, I thought  it would be a good idea to maybe finish off a couple Generals that had been siting quietly on the painting desk for far too long.

Although Jackson had been finished for some time, the other figures on his base were only half done.

The other command stands will be used as Brigade commanders or Divisional commanders.

 Lt. Gen. Jackson is a Foundry figure and the other two are plastic Perry figures.

 The foot figure is a left over from the Old Glory hospital set that I painted a while ago.
The mounted figure is the Perry's General Lee figure with a head swap. I felt that having two of General lee would be a bit much!

British rear guard action.

Friday night saw us play a Rear Guard game using our 28mm Napoleonics.

Nothing too special in the setup, French attacking and outnumbering the Brit's 2:1 and
the British controlling a pass through the hills.

 The British setup most of their troops on the reverse slope ( and therefore did not have to place them on the table) and waited for the French to reach the ridge.

 The French army preparing to advance towards the British held ridge.

 One regiment of infantry and two batteries of guns was all the French could see.

 French light and medium cavalry advanced along one flank while....

 .....their heavy cavalry advanced along the other.

 As the French army approached the ridge more of the British army came into view.

 The French left flank prepare to take this end of the ridge.

 On the French right flank their cavalry charge into the British cavalry. Eventually the British heavy cavalry will hold off the French horse on this flank. On the other flank however the French faced little opposition.

Needless to say the one infantry regiment and single gun battery didn't last long and soon there was French cavalry in the rear of the British.

 The British rear guard had slowed the French advance just enough and could now slip away as the darkness of the night began to set in.

40,000!!!

As this wee blog has hit the 40,000 mark I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for taking the time to have a look, leave a comment or two and to even decide to follow what is going on.

Here are a few photos of a game I had a while ago but have never got around to posting the photos . A peninsula game with the French defending in front of a Spanish town.

French Line Infantry .

Over the Christmas break I finally finished off another French Line Infantry regiment. This is the 4th regiment in a brigade of 4. The other three units have been painted for a few years now.  All the units are from Front Rank, 3 Line and 1 Light. Flags from GMB.

Napoleonic French Carabiniers.

I have finally finished painting these guys. I had half of the unit for several years but only ordered the remaining figures in August.  I painted them in October and eventually got round to basing them over the Christmas break.
 The Carabiniers have always been one of my favourite Napoleonic units, the big red helmet crest , the brass/copper cuirass and mounted on dark horses must have made an impressive sight on Napoleonic battlefields all over Europe.
