ECW Green coat Regiment.

Slowly getting back into some ECW gaming. This is a green regiment that I am adding to my Royalist army.
Painted a while ago but only finished off the basing over the weekend.

The figures are all Renegade and the flags are from GMB.

Renegade English Civil War

These troops were painted about 10 years ago for a demo game at Conquest. Since then they have only fought in a few battles.

This week the Southern Strategists are having an ECW game using the Pike & Shotte rules.

Digging down into the very depths of the cupboard I finally found these almost forgotten troops.

The paintwork is still intact, flags still flying and no broken pikes. All good for being at the bottom of all that lead.

So to tart them up a bit I have added some homemade grass tufts. Depending on how this game goes I might look at doing a bit of an ink wash over them and then some highlights.

 My Blue coat infantry I think are Sir Edward Stradling's Blue Coats.

 The Red Coats  are Apsley's Red Coats. I think!

Finished off some more Rebel Infantry the other week. These guys will be formed up as Semmes' Georgian brigade, consisting of the 10th, 50th, 51st and 53rd Georgia regiments.
Despite only being engaged on the second day at Gettysburg they still suffered just over 32% losses.

General Semmes was mortally wounded during the battle and died a week latter.

Figures are from Renegade and the flags are again homemade.

Barksdale's Mississippians

I have been away for the past couple of weeks and been unable to comment on so many of your posts. I have been reading most of them though and will start catching up with as many as I can.

For now here are some photos of the latest batch of Rebels for our Gettysburg game. These guys will be part of Brig -Gen William Barksdale's Brigade made up of four Mississippi regiments. Those being the 13th, the 17th, the 18th and the 21st .  I still have another three stands to paint up for this brigade and they are on the painting table now! 

 The next bunch of photos are of the rest of my Rebels. I have another 11 stands painted but waiting to be based and another 11 stands that I have just started painting.

Confederate Infantry

With our Gettysburg refight coming up in July I needed to paint up more Rebels for my part in the game. Here is another 8 stands to go with my rather small force that is painted so far.

Finished painting these two chaps along with their gun a while ago but only sorted out the basing the other day!

Sorted some photos today of the German Light Machine gunners I painted a while ago. These guys are from Renegade. Not bad figures, a mix of the German gun and the Lewis gun. I didn't really need all of them painted but thought I might as well do them as they are probably limited for use in other areas.

SAGA countdown

On Wednesday night the Southern Strategists will have their first games of SAGA.
With that thought in mind I decided to finish off these two Viking dudes. Given to me by my friend Geoff last year when I was making the Longboat. They were both originally swinging axes but after a fair amount of carving out lead and drilling holes in their hands they are now hauling on ropes to help beach the boat.

I have no idea what make of figures these guys are.

 Last weekend I also decided to have a wee play with Photoshop. The thought of having four separate measuring sticks floating around the table during a game didn't sound like a winner to me. So armed with a download of the measuring sticks I cut and moved and rotated them around until I came up with a one piece measuring stick. The "S" and "M" are also staggered so as to be able to quickly see the distance. With "VS" at right angles it is very easy to measure between figures.

It was then a matter of printing it out and glueing it to some cardboard.

WW1 Flamethrowers.

Some of these guys I painted up a while ago but only recently finished off the last few.
They are from Renegade Miniature set WW1G 112.

I have been busy finishing off a few sets of figures like these recently so more to come in the next week or two.

I see that the blog has finally got to 200 followers after hanging in the 190's for ages. Thank you all very much for this. Thanks for all the comment too. I really do appreciate them.
