Jungle buildings in 28mm.

A while ago I was asked by a friend if I would make some jungle buildings in 28mm for Bolt Action games. After a bit of a look at the Airfix kit and a couple of blog posts at Craig's Wargaming Blog and Wargaming with Silver Whistle I began construction. Largely made from bamboo skewers and PVA glue.

With Conquest next weekend,  some of the Strategists are putting on a demo game of  Japanese against US Marines in an island hoping Bolt Action game.

I will have these two buildings on display on the islands somewhere.

Removable roof to enable the placing of troops inside and a separate platform to allow for some variety.

Just a bunch of cowboys!

Picked up these guys at a swap meet a few years back. Re found them earlier this year when I was painting up ACW figures for the Gettysburg game.

All Dixon's I think, but I could be wrong. Very nice figures to paint up and again something a wee bit different for me to muck around with. This is half of what I have at present so I might have to get some more at some stage.

Thanks for taking the time to take a wee look.

More Medieval Archers

My second unit of archers.

This time they are almost all from Front Rank. Totally fictitious again with another made up flag too.  Some of these chaps were painted about twelve or thirteen years ago, the rest have been painted in the last few days.

The bases are 50mm X 50mm again too.

I wonder where we would be if not for such a great man.

Medieval Beginnings.

I have had these guys for many many years, sitting in a bag at the bottom of an old ammo tin! While looking for something different to paint up awhile ago I rediscovered them along with some Men at Arms and some Knights.
After talking with some of the other guys in the group, all of whom have a collection of  medieval troops that need a reason to be brought out into the light, we decided to paint up a few and have some games with them.

These are, of course, the Games Workshop Bretonnian Archers with the exception of two Front Rank chaps added in for good measure.

The colour scheme is totally fictitious, as is the flag.

I am calling this a unit, six 50 x 50mm stands.

I intend to make some stands of stakes at some point in the future.

Mysterious Woman.

This young lady has been lurking around at the back of the painting table for the past few years!
I have no idea from where she has come, nor for that matter, do I know what I will do with her.

Having spent several weeks working on the Gettysburg game I was looking for something a little different to do. She was semi painted so I just carried on from where I had left her a couple of years back.

Here are a few photos of the  Mysterious Woman. She is approx 28mm tall.

Apologies for the crappy photos but sunshine in Christchurch seems to be non existent these past few weeks unless I am at work, without my camera and without the subject matter then it will shine strong and bright!!!

One or two other projects are now under way of which there will be more later.

Two days at Gettysburg

This weekend was spent with a great bunch of guys pushing somewhere in the vicinity of 4000 figures around our battlefield of Gettysburg.

This post will largely cover my area on the table with a few shots of the action in other areas.
I have posted more photos of the whole table on the Harper's Weekly Blog.

I was General Lafayette McLaws and right from the start we were in action.
