ACW signal tower

Inspired by a blog post from Christopher at Bunker Hill back in January I decided to have crack at making my own signal tower.  The tower itself is made from twigs from the garden glued together and then bound with cotton soaked in PVA and then painted.  The figures are all spare artillery figures from Foundry.

Might look at doing a Union group and another tower one day but this would be after our large Gettysburg game.

  3. Really terrific, Rodger. Its amazing what you can do with some twigs from the garden. The soaking-with-PVA trick is a must - and it really works brilliantly.

  8. Great work! IMO scratchbuilt projects, in most cases, always seem to take the model's scenario-scene-ambiance to uplifted heights. This project is a high-up-one, Sir.

Painting the troop bases the same color as the tower's platform is a winner.

  15. Very simple and very effective, Rodger. Looks good too. It would make an unusual HQ/command element for pick-up games, or a feature of campaign and scenario battles. Very handy.

  17. Nice indeed....it's got some multi-period potential, too. If only I had twigs in my garden...
