Rorke's Drift buildings

The last post from me, before the lockdown, was one of one of our Rorke's Drift games.
After that game I decided to have a go at making the buildings.

Mainly made from foam board and 3mm MDF.

They have been used a few times since. I have included a few photos from one of those times.

Not perfect, I know but they will do the job.

The first three photos are from my phone( poor quality)

The store, out house, and ovens.

The store

The hospital.

I made a redoubt for it too.

Been doing a bit of terrain work.

It's been a very long time since my last post but I thought  would try and resurrect things here.

Having been confined to barracks for most the past week I have been able to spend some time on these buildings. Unfortunately they are not mine but I have really enjoyed painting them up.

3D printed buildings seem to be a very good wat to go these days.

I am including some photos of another 3d printed project. This Gear factory was painted last year, I think.

Now that I have a bit more time on my hands I will try and post a bit more.

Warbases, Garden set 1

With plans to run a couple of Dad's Army games soon we decided that there was a need for more bits and bobs around the buildings. With that in mind Geoff bought the two garden sets made by Warbases. As this was my game, I felt that I should help out a bit and said I would make up one of the sets for him.

Garden set1 from Warbases.

Cold frame with some plants under the glass.

The compost bin.

The bench with a few things added to help it look a bit more used.

The lean to glasshouse

Had to add some plants to this one.

Interior of the glasshouse.

The potting shed. The roof lifts off of this one.

The chicken coop.

All together again.

Really enjoyed making these and adding the details. They went together beautifully and really do help to make those skirmish games look the part.

Viking Longhouse

I had been wanting to make a Viking Longhouse for a far while now. Last month I finally made a start.

Once I had begun I found that the enthusiasm took over. In the end it took me just over  a week to make and paint.

Made from balsa wood sticks carved to shape and then glued over a MDF former. The roof is from a hairy material used by plumbers to lag hot water pipes.

La Belle Alliance

I have been out of the game for the past couple of weeks due to illness, no blogging, no painting! In fact not very much of anything, but now I am back.

I scored this resin model of La Belle Alliance a few weeks back at the local swap meet.

After a bit of cleaning up, a quick paint job and a bit of basing and we are good to go.

Painted and based within a week but I hadn't taken the photos so it had to wait until I was feeling better.

Now to go and start catching up on the blogs.

Scratchbuilt Trebuchet.

I have been keen on making one of these since looking at some paintings in the book,
Arms and Uniforms, The Age of Chivalry, Part 2, by Liliane and Fred Funcken.

Having a castle with walls that need knocking down has also helped to encourage me.

Managed to fill in a Sunday afternoon a few weeks ago.
 Mostly made from balsa wood.
 Ready to fire.

The figures are Gripping Beast plastic Dark Age warriors with Perry's Plastic Medieval heads.

The other two crew members are loading up another sling with a large rock in preparation for the next round.

I haven't made up any rules for the use of a trebuchet yet, but for now it can just be for decoration on the table.
